Pillars of Islam and Belief in Allah
For those that don’t know, yes, it’s true. I’ve become a muqalid. At least for the time being. I chose Shafi’ee fiqh because of resources as well as feeling the most comfortable with its usool. I’ll be posting a series of things on Shaf’iee fiqh inshaaAllah from a course I’m taking. It of course, will start out simply.
Pillars of Islam
The pillars of Islam are five.
- Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
- Fulfilling the prayer.
- Giving zakat.
- Fasting in Ramadan.
- Performing hajj for whoever is able.
It is required that these five pillars are fulfilled with sincerity and conviction as it is said that whoever is not sincere is a hypocrite and whoever does not have conviction is a disbeliever.
Belief in Allah
You must believe the following:
- Allah exists.
- Allah is One, without any partner or equal.
- None is like Allah.
- Allah is the hearer and the seer.
- Allah created the heavens and the Earth.
- Allah created the entire Universe and everything in it and determined all things provisions and lifespans.
- No event occurs without the decree or will of Allah.
- He is living, knowing, willing, able, speaking, hearing, and seeing.
- He knows everything including the secret and what the hearts conceal.
- He sent Muhammad, peace be upon him, to guide mankind in this life and the next.
