Qur’anic Reflections #2
Some more reflections today, this time from the 2nd juz’:
“Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, “When (will [...]
Qur’anic Reflections #1
Â
“And seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashi’un [i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)].” 2.45
As I was [...]Ready, set, go!
For Muslims across the world, whether they are normally practicing the rest of the year or not, Ramadan is the highlight of their year. Despite the physical hardships one has to endure, the month is also marked by a closeness of family, friends, and the Muslim community at large which is rarely felt at other [...]
It’s a Bittersweet Symphony
In light of recent events and developments in my family, here are some things that I have been reflecting on. First, I think Allah (swt) for giving me the foundation of Islam, because without the foundation of Islam, people are lost. Just look at the relationships of the kuffar and you will see how true [...]
The Perils of Public Schools
Recently, I have had the blessing (and yes, I call it a blessing) of being a substitute teacher for a public high school in my area. In a couple of days it will be the fifth anniversary of [...]The Winter of Fitnah
About two weeks ago, I had the blessing of attending the class of Sheikh Muhammad AlShareef (hafidhullah). This was the third time I have been blessed with the opportunity of attending his seminars and each time I find myself benefiting more and more, not only from his Islamic knowledge, but his pratical “life knowledge”.
One [...]Reminder from al-Yamaamah
I received this story via email, jazakallah khair to the person who sent it. I found it a very beneficial reminder.

The Battle of al-Yamaamah
Ibn Umar (ra) narrated that he saw one of the Ansar in the sickbay, unable to move from his injuries.
But then, someone from the battlefield called out, “O Ansar, come!”
Ibn Umar [...]The Key to Success
Think of the most successful person you know. What makes that person appear successful? Is it the amount of money they make and the luxury car they drive when they pull up to the masjid? Is it the amount of friends they have or the power and influence they have in the community? For those [...]
